Smith County Champions for Children

Support Champions for Children of Smith County

In Smith County alone, more than 8,000 children spend an average of 36 or even more hours a week in some type of childcare arrangement. It is sad to say that not all daycares are equal. Studies have repeatedly shown that high-quality childcare - care that provides a loving, safe, stable and age-appropriate stimulating environment – helps to build the brain, body and social-emotional foundation for that child to be successful in school and life.

Since 1996, Champions, a 501(c)(3), has been the motivating force behind a coordinated community effort to design and implement progressive programs to help at-risk children, parents and childcare providers. From professional teacher trainings and educational materials to individual interventions for at-risk children birth to 18 years of age, Champions' provides teachers and parents with the tools, training, and support they need to ensure that their children have every opportunity at success.

Champions for Children is a United Way of Tyler/Smith County partner agency and is the ONLY non-profit agency in the area whose primary focus is quality, early childhood education for children birth to five years of age. Champions' also provides individual services to children, families, childcare centers and teachers in East Texas.

Children are our future and every day, we work to ensure that the children in our communities receive high-quality early education and/or early intervention -- the key to a bright and secure future for all!
