Our Needs

Every day, American Red Cross East Texas Chapter provides compassionate care to those in need. We share our mission of preventing and alleviating suffering. We help members of the military and their families. We collect blood from generous donors. We teach lifesaving skills so our communities can be better prepared when the need arises.

DISASTER SERVICES
Your gift enables Red Cross East Texas to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small, while making homes safer and providing education to the community. Volunteers respond to a disaster every eight minutes, including home fires that affect one family and tornadoes that affect thousands. The Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health and mental health services to help families and entire communities get back on their feet.

SERVICE TO THE ARMED FORCES
Red Cross military support dates back to the 1880s and serves members of the military, veterans and their families as they prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service. Since 9/11, the Red Cross has served more than 1 million military families, including hundreds across East Texas.

BLOOD SERVICES
The Red Cross is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40% of the blood supply and distributing it to about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. Providing life-saving blood and blood products to patients is a key component of the Red Cross mission to help people in times of emergency and disasters.

$50 provides a full day of food and shelter for 1 person
$100 stocks 1 comfort cart with items for wounded, ill and injured service members, and veterans
$150 provides a crib for an infant in a shelter
$200 provides a full day of food and shelter to a family of 4
$664 provides financial assistance for a family impacted by a home fire
$725 covers the cost of a local disaster response
$1,176 provides food and shelter for a family of 4 for 7 days
$1,800 deploys a volunteer to a disaster operation
$3,900 covers the cost of 1 blood drive
